OREANDA-NEWS. On January 25, 2007 President Robert Kocharian received the Chairman of “Gazprombank” Andrei Akimov and the Vice-Chair of the Bank’s Board Farid Kantserov, reported the Official website http://news.president.am.

The President of Armenia welcomed the arrival of “Gazprombank” to Armenia and noted that “Gazprom” has been realizing major programs in the Armenia’s energy sector, and now “Gazprombank”, well equipped with resources and possibilities, provides good opportunities.

According to Robert Kocharian, in Armenia the Bank will face serious competition since our country’s banking system is developing rapidly and last year alone five foreign banks established in Armenia their branches. The President of Armenia also said the Armenia’s banking laws though liberal at the same time provide for a strict control over the banking activities.

Speaking about the activities of “Gazprombank” Andrei Akimov noted that it is one of the largest Russian banks, which along with the banking makes also big investments in the economy. In his words, in Armenia the Bank doesn’t pursue instant gain policy: it is aimed at a serious and continuous work, has a long-term goals, and long-term projects.

The Chairman of “Gazprombank” assured that in the Bank’s person Armenia is acquiring a serious, reliable and practical partner. He also said that he intends to work with the industry and agriculture sectors as well as to provide considerable means to benevolent projects.
