OREANDA-NEWS. February 1, 2008. Federal Nuclear University is being established in Russia for training specialists for the newly-reformed nuclear industry, representatives of Rosatom said at the roundtable “Nuclear Future: Technologies, Safety and Ecology” conducted in the framework of the 11th International Scientific-Innovative Conference of Students, Sports-Graduates and Young Specialists “Polar Lights-2008” (St.Petersburg).

The university is being established on the basis of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute with branches in five nuclear cities having experience of training of nuclear power engineers.

The university will provide higher, post-graduate and high professional education. This project is part of the federal target program for the development of the nuclear power industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and -2015 and will be financed in the framework of this program.

The representatives of Rosatom pointed out that the Polar Lights forum has already become a good tradition and one of the key youth events in the nuclear power industry.
