OREANDA-NEWS. On January 29, 2007 as part of a program to expand the S7 Training Center, S7 Airlines has completed the construction of a new building to house the company’s new emergency rescue trainers, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.

Modern equipment for conducting emergency rescue training of crews of Boeing 737 and A320 airplanes of all modifications will be installed in the new building of the training center. They include Door Trainers and a Cabin Emergency Evacuation Trainer. They are also known as mockups. Aircraft crews (pilots and flight attendants) will complete drills of emergency rescue procedures on the trainers.

Emergency rescue training of crews on Tu-154 and Il-86 airplanes will also be conducted in the new building. In addition, the complex makes it possible to increase the number of types of aircraft on which emergency rescue training can be conducted to at least ten and allows for the installation of 2 mockups.

The new structure will begin operation in February.

In addition, the groundwork has been completed for the construction of another new building of the educational center. Assembly of the load-bearing structures of the building has begun. Four new integrated trainers for use by flight crews will be located in the four-storey building. The construction is supposed to be completed in November 2008. The structure will be about 4,000 square meters in area.

“S7 Airlines is investing a lot of money in the development of its flight crew training system. The training processes themselves, including the training of young pilots, are also being improved. Despite the industry-wide trend of aging flight personnel, the average age of current S7 Airlines pilots has substantially fallen, and this is a significant achievement not only for S7 Airlines, but for the country’s entire civil aviation establishment as well,” says Oleg Vasiliev, Director of S7 Training.
