OREANDA-NEWS. February 12, 2007. A.I. Kazmin, General Director of FSUE Russian Post, Chairman of Strategic Planning Group of Universal Postal Union (UPU) and E.Dayan, Director-General of UPU discussed the perspectives of further development in postal sector at the meeting held on 6th of February in Bern (Switzerland), reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

The parties agreed that globalization, high-rate development of communication technologies and growth of customers’ demands on quality and security resulted in core changes in postal sector. It has not just to adapt in the environment, but to build the future actively, i.e. to develop cooperation between all the participants of postal services market, work out global strategies of world postal network, enlarge the range of services. Presently, universal postal services include not only delivery, but financial, infocommunications and other modern services. It gives both new opportunities and sets tasks for postal services of UPU member-countries that explains urgency of strategic planning for postal development.

E.Dayan emphasized significance of Russia in the Universal Postal Union. He highly appreciated activities of Russian postal administration headed by Strategic Planning Group. E.Dayan marked the preparation to the forthcoming 24th Congress of the Universal Postal Union. The Congress is to set trends of postal sector development for the next 4 years.
