OREANDA-NEWS. On 13 February 2008 was announced, that according to the master plan of Moscow, 12.1 million square meters of housing is set to be built in the northern administrative district of the city by 2025.

“The volume of housing construction is to equal 12.1 million square metres in north Moscow, including 2 million square metres on the sites of the reorganized industrial areas,” Oleg Boevsky, deputy head of Research and Design Institute of the Moscow Master Plan, said.

According to him, 2.6 million square metres of dilapidated obsolete housing is planned to be replaced in the indicated period. 1.8 million square metres is the replacement of 5-storey housing and roughly 800,000 square metres is the replacement of 9-storey and 12-storey housing.

The official added that the volume of reconstruction of the micro-districts of the established development in the northern district of Moscow had totaled 600,000 square metres.

“The volume of overhaul is to total 2 million square metres that is a very significant amount,” Mr Boevsky noted.

In a preliminary estimate, the provision with housing in north Moscow will rise from 19,500 to 25,000 square metres per person.
