OREANDA-NEWS. February 14, 2008. In January 2008, the port of Nakhodka handled 1.364.6 million tonnes of cargo (+22.4%, year-on-year). In the reported period, transshipment of dry cargo totaled 810,300 tonnes (-10.7%, year-on-year) including 94,800 tonnes of dry bulk and loose bulk cargo (no dry bulk or loose bulk cargo was handled in the port in January 2007). Transshipment of ore totaled 25,800 tones, coal and coke – 69,000 tonnes (this type of cargo was not handled in January 2007). In the reported period the port handled 77,200 tonnes of timber (down 3.4 times, year-on-year) including 64,100 tonnes of round timber (dowm 3.3 times) and 13,100 tonnes of sawn timber (down 4.2 times). Transshipment of general cargo amounted to 617,200 tonnes (+34.4%) inc 525,900 tonnes of ferrous metal (+25.8%), 20,800 tonnes of non-ferrous metal (twice as much as in January 2007), 9,100 tonnes of scrap metal (-18.8%). Transshipment of refrigerated cargo increased 1.7 times to 6,300 tonnes, packaged cargo – up 2.7 times to 34,700 tonnes. The port’s cont throughput grew 3.2-fold to 3,995 TEU. Transshipment of oil products amounted to 554,300 tonnes (+44.7%).

Nakhodka port is located on both coasts in the northern part of Nakhodka Bay. The port has year round navigation. It is linked with railway systems of Russia and Western Europe by Trans-Siberian Line.
