OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 February 2008 was announced, that the Associate board of architecture, construction, development and reconstruction of Moscow built 225,100 square metres of housing in the southern district of the Russian capital in 2007.

“We had a hard job to do in 2007. The southern district is a big building site where the construction is being carried out almost in each of 16 areas,” Yury Ivankov, first deputy prefect of the southern administrative district of Moscow, said.

According to him, 14 residential houses were erected in the district in 2007, including 46,000 square metres of social housing.

Mr Ivankov noted that 26,000 square metres were built at the expense of the city budget, 20,000 square metres were put up in the district due to the realization of investment contracts.

The first deputy prefect added that 3 comprehensive schools and an elementary school designed in total for 1,295 children were built in north Moscow in 2007.

Mr Ivankov also informed that 11 kindergartens designed to have 2,135 places were erected in the district last year. They will be placed in operation in late February or early March 2008.

The official concluded that 7 sports and fitness complexes set to be built in 2007 would be commissioned in the district in May 2008.
