OREANDA-NEWS. February 18, 2008. The Turkmen Textile in Modern World scientific conference was held within the framework of the Textile Industry of Turkmenistan and the Art of Carpet Weaving International Exhibition, which had brought together over 60 companies and firm from 20 countries worldwide.

The achievements of national textile industry and the prospects of mutually advantageous co-operation in implementing its profound potential was the main themes of the reports presented by the Turkmen specialists and of particular interest to the participants. Dozens of the textile enterprises constructed and put into operation in Turkmenistan in recent years that enabled to increase the volume of processing domestically produced ginned cotton up to 50 percent vividly testify to the rapid pace of its development. Within the shortest period Turkmenistan created the processing infrastructure including the network of the cotton spinning, weaving and clothes factories and complexes, which manufacture products competing with foreign analogues. Over 90 percent of textile goods made in Turkmenistan is exported worldwide, in particular the United States, Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, China and Ukraine.

The reports were focused on effective, ecologically friendly technologies underlying the manufacturing process at the textile enterprises throughout Turkmenistan. Along with the high quality this factor conditions the steadily increased demand for the goods labeled Made in Turkmenistan in many respects. The participants emphasized that the equipment supplied by the world’s leading producers including Rieter and Beninger (Switzerland), Howa and Tsudakoma (Japan), Marzoli and Vamatex (Italy), Terrot and Bruckner (Germany), Zimmer and MHM (Austria) contributed to the increase of output.

The theme of effective mutually advantageous co-operation was developed in the reports and presentations made by the specialists of the foreign companies and firms, who highly appreciated Turkmenistan’s textile industry development strategy. They noted that the favourable investment climate created in the country was an outcome of the open door policy pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov making Turkmen market more attractive for foreign partners. The international experts had certified the high quality of Turkmen textile goods for compliance with the international standards. The world-known firms including Levis, Nautika, Lee are the customers of jeans fabric and ready-made garments manufactured at the Jeans Complex.

Sharing their intentions and proposals on further development of fruitful collaboration the representative of the companies - Rieter, Sigma Center, Mitsubisi Corporation, ITOCHU Corporation, Jum Shui, Engin Group and others noted the plans were conditioned by the large scale of Turkmenistan’s textile projects.

The reports on the plans of building the modern silk production potential were of particular importance to the participants of the forum. Nowadays, aiming to fulfill the task set by the President of Turkmenistan to the Ministry of Textile Industry the silk production development programme stipulating for fundamental reconstruction and modernisation of the existing enterprises is elaborated in Turkmenistan.

It was remarkable that the companies willing to operate in Turkmen market and interested in establishing close business contacts took part in the exhibition with Turkmenistan’s long-term partners. These included Huntsman and Bezema(Switzerland), Textima (Germany), Van de Wiele (Belgium), Russian Textile Alliance and NPF ORT (Russian Federation), etc.

Summing up the forum the participants called for furthering the fruitful dialogue to intensify and expand effective mutually advantageous co-operation.
