OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2008. Verona (Italy) hosted the International Forum on Alternative Energy.

The Forum brings together heads of governmental institutions, international organizations, leading energy companies and experts on energy policy with the aim of discussing key aspects of alternative energy.

Attending the Forum were Alexander Yakovenko, Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of the Russian Federation, Anatoly Yanovsky, Deputy Industry and Energy Minister of the Russian Federation, Sergey Yastrzhembsky, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation.

Stanislav Tsygankov, Head of the Gazprom International Business Department delivered a speech at the plenary meeting dedicated to the aspects of the national and international policy in the alternative energy area. The report was focused on the role of conventional and alternative energy sources for the European energy security.

Stanislav Tsygankov also informed of the steps taken by Gazprom to retain and develop its market positions, the development prospects for prominent gas transportation projects in the European Union as well as Gazprom’s plans concerning the sales markets diversification.
