OREANDA-NEWS. February 19, 2008. ROSNO’s West-Siberian Directorate has reimbursed damage covered by the contract for insurance of civil liability for the damage inflicted during operation of hazardous industrial objects, reported the press-centre of ROSNO.

The insured accident happened on the territory of the Tobolsk cold storage facility, which had previously obtained a ROSNO insurance policy for a hazardous industrial object — an ammonia cooling plant owned by NOMOS Ltd. During the production process, the compressor shop’s measuring equipment suddenly became depressurized, with subsequent ammonia emission into the shop’s premises.

This accident has resulted in spoilage of dairy products stored at the facility (with damage amounting to 19,499 roubles), and the fire brigade had to contain ammonia cloud, preventing it from spreading over the city.

ROSNO’s compensation payment equalled 45,799.11 roubles, including 19,499.15 roubles for the spoiled dairy products and 26,299.96 roubles for the accident liquidation works performed by the fire crew.

This is ROSNO’s first case of compensation paid under a contract for insurance of civil liability in operation of hazardous industrial objects in the area covered by the West-Siberian Directorate.
