OREANDA-NEWS. On 21 February 2008 was announced, that Ust-Kut shall become one of the strategic multi-regional transport-logistic centers in the north-east part of the region according to the development strategy for the Irkutsk region till 2020. Transformation of Ust-Kut to the Angara region development center becomes possible partly because of construction of the “East Siberia – Pacific Ocean” oil pipeline.

The north-east Angara region development center built up not far from the ESPO in the Ust-Kut region will represent the multi-regional transport-logistic center as reported by Alexander Tishanin the region governor speaking about the Irkutsk region development plan till 2020. In view of the transport infrastructure evolution the city will become the development center for the mineral recourses production and treatment plants of the northern deposits and directly Eastern pipeline, noted by Mr. Tishanin. The strategic role of this transport center will be increased after the East Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil pipeline is constructed the “Vilui” highway is built along the pipeline and the railway Lena-Nepa-Lensk is constructed. The Ust-Kut’s generating capacities will be able to produce the electrical power of capacity up to 1 gigawatt per hour taking into account the gas from the Verkhnechonsk and Dulisminsk oilfields that will supply oil to the ESPO.

ESPO plays an important role in the social-economic development of the territories crossed by the pipeline. The development of the infrastructure will allow to augment the marketability of the Angara region and will make the Irkutsk region one of the regions attracting to live in, reported by the expert portal Eastern oil pipeline.
