OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2008. In February 2008 Sakhalin Energy announced its traditional competition for the grant programme Small Grants – Big Deeds. This is one of the most popular Sakhalin Energy charitable programmes; supporting social projects of initiative groups, non-profit organisations and other institutions working on Sakhalin.

The chief purpose of the programme is to support public initiatives in local communities and facilitate projects aimed at addressing social concerns and the needs of communities or social institutions.

The programme gives the chance to people… who seek and find, fight and stand out…

This is the seventh round of this grant programme. The first round of the grant programme Small Grants – Big Deeds was announced in 2003. Since that time Sakhalin Energy has financed more than 160 projects in four key areas: protection of the environment, health, social assistance and cultural development.

This year has been declared as the Year of the Family in Russia and the Company has decided to provide grants for projects aimed at emphasising and reinforcing the social status of the family.

Starting in 2006 Sakhalin Energy joined with partners from non-profit organisations to administer the grant programme. As of 2007 the programme has been supervised by the NGO Chance from Aniva. Participation of partnership organisations stimulates the activities of Sakhalin people and social institutions. The role of the NGO as project administrator is to provide assistance in writing applications and developing projects.

The programme Small Grants – Big Deeds gives the chance to people and organisations who seek and find, fight and stand out, - says Svetlana Sulimova, Director of NGO Chance.
