OREANDA-NEWS. February 22, 2008. In 2007 the Y.Sedakov Research Institute of Measuring Systems (NIIIS, Nizhniy Novgorod) carried out research and development projects worth 2.4bln RUR, the governor of Nizhniy Novgorod region Valery Shantsev said during his visit to the institute on Thursday.

“This is quite good. NIIIS is one of the best not only in Nizhniy Novgorod region but all over Russia. Its products are highly competitive. Its gas main automation systems are the best and the safest,” Shantsev said.

“The institute has a good component basis in the field of micro-electronics. I like the way they solve their social problems. They have a sports and recreation complex and organize summer rest for their children.”

“The institute is actively recruiting young specialists. In 2007 it employed 80 young scientists. In 2008 it is planning to employ 100 more people. The average age of the institute’s employees is dropping, which is quite good,” Shantsev said.

NIIIS carries out research and development in the following spheres: design of radio-electronic equipment, specialized radio-telemetric systems and small-sized radio-electronic devices, design, production and introduction of software, integrated automated process control systems for fuel and energy companies, systems for tele-automation of gas pipelines and software for automated control systems of nuclear power plants.
