OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2008. Over 220 works - articles, notes, TV reports and documentaries among them of the participants from 32 regions took part in all-Russian competition "The Last Mile" in 2007, reported the press-centre of Russian Post.

The authors are journalists who creatively told of past, present and future of post with its employees and the role it plays in modern life. The heroes of their art are responsible postmen and representatives of other postal professions who are faithful to the best traditions and devoted to their work.

Annual competition "The Last Mile" has been first held in 2004 jointly by Russian Post, Publishing house of Trud newspaper and Sobesednik. The main aim is to attract public attention to difficult and very important everyday activities of the representatives of postal professions. The competition also helps to find and award the best Russian Post’s employees amounting presently 415 thousand, 100 thousand of them are postmen.

The jury of famous journalists, representatives of Moscow Union of Journalists and Russian Post pointed 29 best articles, notes and reports. Their authors and heroes, 29 journalists and 21 postal employees from Belgorod, Vladimir, Vologda, Kemerovo, Kurgan, Magadan, Nizhniy Novgorod, Veliky Novgorod, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, Saratov, Sverdlovsk and Smolensk regions, the Krasnodar and Krasnoyarsk territories, the Republic of Komi, the Republic of Mordovia, the Republic of Sakha, the Republic of Khakassiya and the Republic of Udmurtia became the laureates of the competition.

All the laureates, journalists and postmen get diplomas and memorable prizes.

The name of the competition was chosen specially. International postal term "the last mile" means the way postman makes to the door of addressee, the way that only postman can make.
