OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2008. In January 2008, industrial enterprises of Moldova produced goods for 1970 billion 4 million leis or 4,4% more than in January 2007.

As it was informed at the National Bureau of Statistics, growth of industrial output is stipulated by increased production of power (19,0%) and food and beverages sectors
(8,8%).

Significant growth was registered at enterprises of hot water supply- 29, 1%, enterprises engaged in production and distribution of electricity -13,1%, production of distilled alcohol – 94,9%, wine – 67,0%; dairy products – 19,9%, processing and preserving meat – 18,1%, production of cocoa, chocolate – 17,3%, cutting, processing and finishing stone – 34,8%.

Production of leather goods grew by 4,4 times, medical, exact, optical equipment and appliances – 77,7%, shoes – 18,0%, paper and cardboard – 17,4%. At the same time, decrease was registered in production of mining industry - by 27,5%, enterprises producing oil and fats - 35,3%, glass – 31,4%, clothing – 5,6%, carpets – 23,9 %, plastic and rubber – 18,3% , cement-11,1%, mineral water and soft drinks – 18,8% and tobacco – 3,1%.
