OREANDA-NEWS. February 25, 2008. Last year, Latvia showed the third largest growth in the number of overnight tourists of the 27 EU states at 9% over 2006.

This according to the latest statistics from "Eurostat".

The biggest increase in tourists in 2007 in the EU was in Poland at 11%, followed by Romania at 9,1%.

The most visited country in the EU last year was Spain with 1,576 billion night in hotels, followed by Italy with 722 million nights in hotels.

The tourist figure for Latvia last year was 2,8 million nights in hotels.
