OREANDA-NEWS. February 26, 2008. “Maestro Raimond Pauls is one of the all time favourite composers of Latvia. He is an outstanding melody maker and accomplished musician. Many of his melodies have become like folk songs, but his albums are of classical worth overlived verification of the time”, reported the press-centre of Rietumu Bank. 

Rietumu Bank raised money to support concerts of a famous Latvian composer and piano player Raimond Pauls in tandem with jazz musicians from Latvia and Estonia. The concerts took place on the 26th and 27th of February in Moscow International Performing Arts Center – also known as Moscow International House of Music.

Chamber chorus KAMER... (conductor Maris Sirmais), jazzmen Intars Busulis and Sandra Petersone, a percussionist Maris Briezhkalns and a contrabass player Taivo Unt from Estonia will perform together with Raimond Pauls.  The event program will comprise the music of Baltic composers, classical and pop music along with jazz.

Latvian chorus KAMER... is established by a talented conductor Maris Sirmais in 1990. KAMER... reaped an unprecedented crop of gold medals in the 4-th World Olympiad of choruses that took place in the Chinese city of Sjamen in summer 2006.

The jazzman Intars Busulis is the brightest artist of the Latvian jazz music. He has released his own solo album “Shades of Kiss” recently. The percussionist Maris Briezhkalns participated in various jazz festivals in the USA, Canada, Russia, Iceland, the Falklands and other countries. The contrabass player Toivo Unt hosted an international festival “Nomme Jazz” recently. Toivo is one of the leading Estonian jazzmen and a friend of Raimond Pauls.
