OREANDA-NEWS. On 29 February 2008 was announced, that on 2 March 2008, on Election Day of the President of the Russian Federation, powermen will provide reliable energy supply.

'Russian Presidential Elections is one of 2008 key events. Much depends on powermen, particularly on grid powermen as an infrastructural company providing reliable power supply', said Director for Operations and Repairs of IDGC of Centre Dmitry Pankov. 'Elections should pass without technological failures. Therefore we carry out a number of additional actions on maintenance of reliable power supply of polling districts'.

During February all subordinated DGC drew up a list of the polling districts connected to the Company's networks, and checked up the schedule of their electricity supply.

The specialists held off-schedule inspection of electric equipment on all socially important facilities, first of all telecasting and broadcasting centers.

'For the period of elections we stopped repair works to bring the supply schedule in normal state that is in a state of maximum reliability', Dmitry Pankov explained. 'We mobilise the personnel, hold additional instructing, and increase amount of repair brigades in order to eliminate all possible failures without delays'.

DGC experts additionally checked up communication facilities and alarm call devices of law enforcement bodies’ representatives in the polling districts. All power facilities have already increased pass control and control over guard duty, especially at night in order to exclude cases of extraneous persons penetration.

The powermen hotline will operate in a special mode during the elections: 8-800-50-50-115 that is a uniform multichannel telephone number providing a free-of-charge call from any place of 11 regions of IDGC of Centre's presence. The hotline will be serviced by a larger number of operators, as well as the experts' day-and-night duty providing trouble-free operation work of the switching equipment.
On the Election Day - 2 March - IDGC of Centre will organise day-and-night duty of the Company and subordinated DGC's technical heads and experts.
