OREANDA-NEWS. February 29, 2008. Almost 400 residents of Muslumovo, a village situated on the shore of Techa, a river that suffered from a defense project in the 1950s, have got compensation – 1,000,000 RUR apiece — and have bought new houses.

The advisor of the head of Rosatom Igor Konyshev says that the resettlement of the residents of Muslumovo is based on joint decision by Rosatom and the authorities of Cheliabinsk region. As a rule, the people who get money and buy houses don’t go far: mostly, to Bashkortostan, Tatarstan and Kurgan region. The absolute majority have bought houses in the nearby areas, in Cheliabinsk and its suburbs. Over 150 families have decided to move to Novomuslumovo, a village that is being built by the authorities of Cheliabinsk region not far away from Muslumovo. The new village will have comfortable houses, a school, a medical center, roads and gas pipelines. The first residents will move there in this summer.
