OREANDA-NEWS. February 28, 2008. Turgai Petroleum, a joint venture with the equal interests of LUKOIL Overseas and PetroKazakhstan (part of CNPC group) commissioned a new modular water injection pump station at the Kumkol field in the Kyzylorda Region of Kazakhstan, reported the press-centre of LUKOIL Overseas.

The construction of the station, the assembly and the start-up of equipment has lasted for 10 months. The investments totaled $7,2 million.  The capacity of the water injection station is 12 thousand cubic meters per day. The station operates in the same processing chain with the previously commissioned initial water separation unit and uses the oilfield water separated at the unit.

The new facility commissioning was provided by the long-term development strategy of the company and solves the important task of formation pressure maintenance and improvement of the oil recovery factor on producing wells in the southern part of Turgai Petroleum’s contract area.

In 2007, the production volume of Turgai Petroleum totaled 3.5 million tons of oil and 145 million cubic meters of gas.
