OREANDA-NEWS.  On 05 March 2008 was announced, that in 2010 expected deficiency of capacity in the Irkutsk power supply system. This information was presented by Evgeniy Filsh, Director for Strategy and Development of JSC Irkutskenergo, at the meeting of goods producers noncommercial partnership of the Irkutsk area. According to his words, the deficiency will result from construction of several large manufacturing plants in the region which will require a plenty of the electric power, such as aluminium factories, timber industry complexes and an oil pipeline. Irkutskenergo develops measures to prevent the deficiency. Reconstruction of the equipment at power stations, closing of boiler houses in Irkutsk and Bratsk (their capacity will be directed for consumers electric power supply), and construction of four new power stations. More than 100 million rubles are expected to be assigned for these purposes.

Evgeniy Filsh, Director for Strategy and Development of JSC Irkutskenergo, said, 'Our aim is expansion of Novo-Ziminsk TPS using the block of 300 megawatt. We plan construction of a coal thermal power station of 990 megawatt capacity. We are also going to construct two gas power stations. One gas power station of 300 megawatt capacity is planned to be constructed in the north of the Irkutsk area, near Kirensk. We plan to construct a second power station in the city of Irkutsk on the right bank.
