OREANDA-NEWS. March 05, 2008. The 5th Estonian Amateur Open 2008 by Floorin, the biggest international golf tournament in the Baltic States, will be held from 25 to 27 July at the Joelahtme Golf Course in Estonia, reported the press-centre of Colliers International.

144 golfers from more than 15 countries are expected to attend and the budget of the tournament is 2.5 million kroons.
 
President of the Estonian Olympic Committee Mart Siimann opened the registration of players for the 5th Estonian Amateur Open yesterday. It is the only golf tournament in Estonia that is included in the list of World Amateur Golf Ranking tournaments where competitors score world ranking points.
 
Chairman of the Estonian Amateur Open 2008 by Floorin Organising Committee Arvi Magin said that the goal of the committee is to organise the highest-level competition ever held in Estonia. “In addition to the best Estonian golfers and top international players, we also expect at least 1000 spectators to attend the tournament this year,” added Magin.
 
The patrons of the 5th Estonian Amateur Open 2008 by Floorin are Floorin, Canon, Colliers International, Barons Hotels and Forbo.
 
Colliers International will get to organize their own golf competition, which will take place on the 4th of July in Estonia.
 
82 competitors from 11 countries took part in Est Am Open 2007 by Floorin in 2007. The team of organisers consisted of 97 members and 600 spectators came to see the tournament. Roger Roper from England won the men’s competition with a hole in one. Mari Suursalu from Estonia was the winner among women.
 
The Joelahtme Golf Course cost 80 million kroons to build and was completed in 2006. It is managed by Estonian Golf & Country Club and belongs among the PGA European Tour Courses, which represents top European courses.
