OREANDA-NEWS. On March 06, 2008 the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) received a petition of the company "Carlsberg A/C" requesting preliminary consent for acquisition of the rights allowing the company "Carlsberg A/C" to define conditions of realization by OJSC "Pivovarennaya companiya "Baltica" [Brewing company "Baltica"] of economic activity, as a result of acquisition by the company "Carlsberg A/C" of 50 % of the company "Baltic Beverages Holding AB" shares that in aggregate with shares which already belong to "Carlsberg A/C" will constitute to 100 % of shares of the company "Baltic Beverages Holding AB", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

As a result of the realization of the transaction on acquisition by the company "Carsberg A/C" the rights allowing it to define conditions of realization by OJSC "Pivovarennaya companiya "Baltica" of economic activity, the dominant position of the "Carlsberg A/C" Company in beer manufacturing market of the Russian Federation may emerge. This may lead to the restriction of competition in this market.

In connection with stated the FAS Russia came to the conclusion that the given petition requires additional examination. Pursuant to Clause 2 Part 2 Article 33 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition" the FAS Russia prolongs the period of examination of the "Carlsberg A/C" petition for two months.

All the interested persons have the right to submit to the antimonopoly authority the data on the influence of this transaction or other action on the state of competition.
