OREANDA-NEWS. March 11, 2008. SIBUR has successfully passed a certification audit of its corporate environmental management system performed by Bureau Veritas Certification Rus (BV Certification) on compliance with international standard ISO 14001:2004.

Over two and a half recent years significant work on development and introduction of its corporate environmental management system (CEMS) was in progress at SIBUR enterprises. The company’s experts jointly with BV Certification consultants have carried out comprehensive analysis of operating and management processes in terms of environmental impact. The corporate standards were developed and approved, identifying of ecological risks and assessment of target programmes “Control of environmental impact” developing by the enterprises were conducted. 

BV Certification appreciated results of the work performed during certification audits held in the entities and in the central office of SIBUR from 29 January till 15 February.

Auditors noted essential planning of environmental measures, successful implementation of programmes on production up-grade aimed at minimization of negative environmental impact, priority planning of environmental actions, well-run waste management, management skills on CEMS maintenance and improvement. 

Based on the audit results the corporate environmental management system of SIBUR Holding OJSC has been recommended for ISO 14001:2004 certification. 

The company's management will take into account the audit results submitted by BV Certification in their further work on environmental and ecological safety management within the company’s plants.
