OREANDA-NEWS. March 12, 2008. At the beginning of the next week the 2009 census programme will be published on the official website of the Ministry of Statistics and Analysis for discussion, Minister of Statistics and Analysis Vladimir Zinovsky reported to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

The Ministry of Statistics and Analysis has been preparing for the 2009 census. A pilot census in October 2007 allowed the ministry to draw up a programme of the next census. Vladimir Zinovsky noted that it can be amended taking into account the public opinion. The document is expected to be submitted for consideration of the government in June.

The Head of State was informed about the statistical results of the country’s two-month economic performance. The results are positive. Thus, GDP increased by 9.9%, mainly due to the growth of the industrial production, which was 12.9%. Agricultural gross production went up by more than 6%. Capital investments grew by 12.1%.

To take correct managerial decisions it is important that the statistical data should be objective, said the President.
