OREANDA-NEWS. March 13, 2008. The delegation of the Textile Industry Association of the People's Republic China led by Deputy Chairman arrived in Ashgabat on a study tour. During the negotiations with the Turkmen colleagues from the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan the Chinese specialists discussed a broad range of the issues of developing mutually advantageous co-operation in this sector of national economy. Reaffirming the readiness to intensify the business relations with Turkmenistan the members of the Chinese delegation put forward a number of the proposals aimed at expanding co-operation in processing wool, silk and rawstock as well as procuring up-to-date equipment.

During the visit to the Turkmen capital the Chinese delegation visited the largest textile enterprises including the Ashgabat filature, the Textile Complex and the Jeans Complex. The guests said that Turkmen-Chinese textile co-operation had the vast opportunities for expanding mutually advantageous partnership developed successfully over many years. They noted that silkworm breeding, in which both countries had accumulated the profound experience of co-operation, was a very promising trend of collaboration. Thus, a panne velvet factory would be put into operation in the Ruhabat Etrap this year. The construction project is financed out of the grant and long-term credit provided by the Government of the People’s Republic China.
