OREANDA-NEWS. On 14 March 2008 was announced, that the theatre of Moscow named School of Modern Play will get new accommodation near its historical building on Neglinnaya Street.

According to a press service of the theatre, the first two stages of the reconstruction will be launched on March 13. The workers are to start with dismantlement of the dilapidated structure where the so-called trade bathhouse was located earlier.

The authors of the project, Iosip Reihelgauz, creative director of School of Modern Play, the architect Vladimir Kolosnitsin and the artist Dmitry Krymov, want the new building be decorated with a rarity material.

The first stage stipulates the erection of a new stage and an auditorium for 500 places, the construction of them will be launched after the dismantlement of the old building completed. The new structure of the theatre is intended to have the architectural principles similar to those in the famous theatre Gonzago in Arkhangelskoe and the up-to-date equipment.

The first stage is scheduled to be completed in 2010, following which all services of the theatre will move to the new accommodation.

The second stage envisages the scientific restoration of the historical structure of Hermitage restaurant where School of Modern Play is located currently.

The scientists and artists will be able to begin restoration only when the services have vacated the building. This is stipulated by the regulations of restoration of cultural heritage, the list of which includes the structure of Hermitage restaurant.

The total restoration is to take three years. The two-stage reconstruction project will allow the theatre to operate uninterruptedly, to show plays and to realize new productions, the press service noted.
