OREANDA-NEWS. March 17, 2008. The Gomel Chemical Plant has concluded an agreement with Russian company Uralkhimmash for the delivery of equipment for the phosphoric acid workshop reconstruction.

According to the contract, the Belarusian company will purchase surface condensers at the amount of Br21 billion. The supplies of the new equipment to the Gomel plant have been already started.

The project related to the reconstruction of the phosphoric acid workshop is one of the most important in the company development programme. The Gomel Chemical Plant intends to complete its reconstruction in March 2010.

According to specialists, the new capacities will be launched step by step. This year, section #1 of the phosphoric acid workshop will produce about 104 thousand tonnes of phosphoric acid, section #2 – 74 thousand tonnes. Owing to the reconstruction, by 2010, the workshop is expected to produce 130 thousand tonnes of phosphoric acid and 96 thousand tonnes respectively.

This year the Gomel Chemical Plant is expected to produce 182 thousand tonnes of phosphoric fertilizer. Some 162 thousand tonnes of fertilizer will be supplied to agricultural companies. In 2007, the company produced 157.2 thousand tonnes of phosphoric fertilizer (102.7% as against 2006). Some 137.1 thousand tonnes of fertilizer was supplied to agricultural companies (106.8%). On the whole, in 2007, the Gomel Chemical Plant produced various goods at the amount of Br237 billion, or 105.5% as against 2006.

The first stage of the Gomel Chemical Plant composed of a sulfuric acid workshop and a lab was launched in 1965. At present, the Gomel Chemical Plant is one of the biggest companies of Belarus which produces mineral fertilizers – ammophos, ammoniated superphosphate and nitric-phosphoric-potash fertilizers. The plant employs 2.7 thousand people.
