OREANDA-NEWS. On 17 March 2008 was announced, that a medical centre of Lomonosov MSU where the medicine department of the university will be located is to open by the beginning of the new school year, Moscow City Mayor Yuri Luzhkov declared during the traditional Saturday perambulate through the city building sites on March 15.

Mr Luzhkov emphasized that only the medicine department of MSU would use the new building for purposes of teaching and researching as well as medical purposes.

The city mayor of Moscow added that it was necessary to look for the sources of finance for purchasing the up-to-date medical equipment.

The financing is necessary to give an opportunity to the specialists to be to have the full range of skills at working with the very latest equipment, Mr Luzhkov noted.

According to the official, the new building is cosy and comfortable that is very important to any educational institution. The medical centre is oriented both for research work of the fundamental medicine department of MSU and for the consultative and extended medical treatment. The centre is designed for 528 members of the medical staff.

The complex contains 5 adjoined structures with various numbers of storeys, from 3 to 9. There is a hospital for 300 places, 2 operating rooms, a resuscitation block, 2 x-ray units and the main services in the main building.
