OREANDA-NEWS. March 18, 2008. S-7 Airlines, the Russian leader in the number of domestic flight passengers, has reported results of its ticket sales for the first month of 2008. According to the report, Internet ticket sales comprised 11.5% of the total number of the airlines’ tickets sold.

In November 2007 S7 Airlines implemented Calendar Shopping, a new system allowing to search and purchase tickets on the company’s website. This system significantly facilitated the online ticket purchase process, not only displaying rates effective the selected departure date, but also providing passengers with an opportunity to view rates for three days prior to, and three days following, such a date. Due to the implementation of this system, S7 Airlines is enjoying an online ticket sales growth of at least 10% monthly.

The volume of Internet ticket sales of S7 Airlines has been as follows:     "  November 2007- 11.8% (of the total number of tickets sold) ;
    "  December 2007 - 10.1%;
    "  January 2008 - 11.5%%.

S-7Airlines continues to actively develop e-ticket technologies, and recently passengers flying out of Kishinev, Moldova, and Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, have also received an access to the e-ticket sales system. Effective June 1, 2008, e-ticketing will become available to passengers in Sochi Airport and Ashkhabad Airport, Turkmenistan. Effective July 1, 2008, the system will be available to passengers flying out of Simferopol, Ukraine.

As of January 2008, S7 Airlines e-tickets comprised 72.34% of all tickets sold via the Internet.

In April 2007 S7 Airlines became the first Russian air carrier to implement an online system for the purchasing and processing of domestic flight tickets. From that moment on, passengers have been able to buy tickets for all flights carried by S7 Airlines, without having to leave their home or the office. Presently the e-ticketing system is available for flights departing from 25 Russian and 19 foreign cities.
