OREANDA-NEWS. March 19, 2008.The forum is being organized by SBCD Expo with the support of Rosatom and Rostekhnadzor.

On Mar 18 the director general of SBCD Expo Yuri Chechikhin told journalists that the objective of "ATOMCON 2008" was to demonstrate the innovative potential and the development prospects of Russia’s nuclear power industry, to develop international cooperation, to establish new business contacts and to conclude contracts with foreign companies.

Over 500 companies and organizations from 50 countries have been invited to take part in the event.

The spokesman of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Novikov said: "We have invited representatives of the countries wishing to develop their nuclear power industries or reviewing their attitude towards nuclear energy. The exhibition will show them what we have. Our key rivals will also be able to exhibit their products. Thus, the concerned countries will have a chance to see and to compare. We also expect to sign contracts if they are ready by the time and if our partners express wish to sign them at the forum."

Rosatom and Atomenergoprom are going to exhibit all of their projects and all of their reactors, including KLT-40C and WBER-300 (vessel-type pressurized water reactor). "Small and medium capacity reactors are in the highest demand at present," Novikov said.

"ATOMCON 2008" will have the following sections: rector technologies of the fourth generation; designing, construction and operation of nuclear power plants; mobile nuclear power plants; nuclear power equipment construction; uranium mining and fuel production; ecological and fire safety; automated control systems and information technologies; control and measuring systems; infrastructure (labor protection, telecoms, recruitment and training of personnel, investments); decommissioning and disposal.
