Upon commencing the new route, Singapore Airlines flights will be offered daily. Thus, in addition to three flights a week operated earlier on Singapore – Dubai – Moscow (DME) route, there will be 4 more Singapore – Moscow (DME) – Houston services. The new non-stop flights to the fourth major US city will be performed by Boeing-777-300ER, which is fitted with state-of-the-art equipment, developed by Singapore airlines’ designers for all three classes.

Representatives from Moscow International Airport Domodedovo, Singapore Airlines and Aviareps AG Russia and CIS participated in the joint press-conference dedicated to the new flight.

“Moscow is gaining strategic importance to Singapore Airlines, since it links the US largest industrial centre and the gateway to South-East Asia. We are pleased to observe the sustainable development of our services market on the Singapore – Moscow route. We see considerable interest in Singapore and other destinations in South-East Asia demonstrated by Russian tourists and businessmen”, – said Mr Eddie Leong, General Manager of Singapore airlines.

The flight from Singapore to Moscow via Dubai has been greatly popular with passengers. The evident positive performance results have prepared the ground for launching new flight via Moscow and increasing flights frequency to 7 days a week.

“Within two years since commencing the Singapore-to-Moscow service via Dubai, 312 round trips were performed, and 102 880 passengers were flown. In 2007 the number of carried passengers increased by 19.6% against last year, and within two last months this number had risen to 20.3%. The new flight by our partners is a breakthrough in intercontinental flights from Domodedovo and it is the first flight to the USA”, - emphasized Mr Aleksey Raevskiy Deputy Director of Domodedovo Airport Complex.

It is anticipated that the new flight will attract a great number of Russian and foreign passengers to travel with Singapore Airlines from Domodedovo. According to forecasts, the service promises to be as successful as the one launched two years ago by Singapore Airlines in collaboration with Domodedovo airport. This flight is also a unique for Singapore tourists; the only flight available from Singapore to Houston so far has been the one performed via Tokyo that takes 72 hours. In contrast, the new flight one via Moscow, opening today, will take only 23 hours, or three times shorter.

Thanks to launching new flight from Domodedovo airport, Russian passengers can discover a brand-new tourism and business destination in the USA and will have more South-East Asia traveling options.
