OREANDA-NEWS. On March 31, 2008, Ivars Godmanis, Prime Minister of the Republic of Latvia, during his working visit to Sweden, met Frederik Reinfeldt, Prime Minister of Sweden, Maud Oloffsson, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Energy, and Anders Borg, Minister for Finance of Sweden, as well as the management of the company TeliaSonera and the management of Svenska Kraftnat, reported the Official website www.mk.gov.lv.

The focus of the Prime Ministers’ meeting was on Europe’s common policy and issues to be addressed during the Summit of the CBSS Heads of Government in June this year.

The Latvian Prime Minister noted that the markets of Latvia and Sweden are closely linked with each other. Sweden, in a direct and indirect way, is one of the key investors in Latvia in various sectors – banking services, telecommunications and other areas.

The Prime Minister and the Minister for Finance discussed operations of the Swedish bank subsidiaries in Latvia in the area of housing and mortgage credits. They also analysed the structure of these credits and concluded that the share of doubtful loans is very low – up to 0,6%.

The focus of the meeting of the Latvian Prime Minister, Swedish Deputy Prime Minister and representatives of the Swedish energy company was mainly on the issues of constructing a link between Latvia and Sweden.

During the meeting with the management of TeliaSonera, the sides repeatedly informed about their position regarding the sale of Lattlecom and LMT shares.
