On March 27, 2008, the Supervisory Board of Eesti Energia authorised a new Member of the Management Board to assume office, who will be responsible for managing the retail business of the entire group. As of 14 April, the current Executive Manager of Retail Banking at Hansapank, Margus Rink (36) will be a new Member of Management Board, reported the press-centre of Eesti Energia.

According to Sandor Liive, Chairman of the Management Board of Eesti Energia, the experience of Margus Rink in the competitive retail business will definitely be beneficial for Eesti Energia with the impending opening of the electricity market and the arising competitive situation. “Margus has been leading one of the largest and most profitable units of Hansapank and will definitely be a great addition to the team of Eesti Energia,” Liive added.

“The energy sector is a new field that will undergo great development in the coming years. As of next year, 35% of the Estonian energy market will be opened and in 2013, the energy market will be fully open and competition will arise. My main tasks will be to build up a sales and service company that will emerge as the winner from the impending competition. This will be a great challenge for me. I am full of energy and ready for new battles,” Margus Rink, the new Member of the Management Board of Eesti Energia, commented on the challenges lying ahead in the background of the opening of the electricity market.

Margus Rink has been in charge of retail banking at Hansapank since 2004, and supervises 1700 employees today. In the years 2001 to 2004, he was the Manager of Personal Banking at Hansapank. He has a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tartu.


In conjunction with appointing the new Member of the Management Board, the Supervisory Board of Eesti Energia also accepted the resignation letter of Tiit Nigul, the current Member of the Management Board.
