OREANDA-NEWS. April 3, 2008. The main branch line of the monorail road connecting the mine with the logistics storage facility was launched at the Kostromovskaya mine (under construction).

Now, it is possible to use diesel locomotives, which are an efficient and safe type of mine transport, to deliver equipment and materials directly to each working. The construction of the ramified monorail system was completed within three years. Its today’s length is about 10 km.

It is planned to use three machines in the mine; one of them is now being operated at the delivery of materials and equipment to development faces. Two more diesel locomotives will be used when descending into the first face of the new mine equipped with the Joy coal production complex.

The Company continues to develop the mine’s transport system. By June this year, it is planned to commission a locomotive depot, which will be brought into line with today’s technical requirements. The depot will be a base for a service station for maintaining the Company’s diesel locomotives. It is also projected to build a waiting room for the Company’s workers in the road section that is adjacent to the mine. Therefore, the use of diesel locomotives for the transportation of people to the faces will make it a safe and comfortable journey.
