OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 April 2008 was announced, that today there are more than 130 Internet access points based on Wi-Fi technology in the Krasnodar and Rostov branches of "UTK" PJSC. By the end of 2008 their number is expected to exceed 200.

As of January 1 2008 the Krasnodar branch operated 72 hot-spots including 29 spots in Krasnodar, 36 spots in Sochi, 2 spots in Anapa, 1 spot in Gelendjik, 3 spots in Arkhipo-Osipovka and 1 spot in Olginka. The Rostov branch operated more than 60 access spots, major part of which were in the city of Rostov –on-Don. 5 hot-spots have been put into service in the cities of Salsk, Аksay, Azov, Bataisk, Shakhty and in the village Vyoshenskaya.

 “At present Wi-Fi technology support is integrated in many types of subscriber’s equipment (notebook computers, smart phones, etc.). Therefore demand for this service is very likely to grow in the nearest years", - Commercial Director of "UTK" PJSC Arkady Samoilov stated.

This year the Krasnodar branch plans to organize 63 more hot spots of wireless Internet access on the basis of Wi-Fi technology in Krasnodar, Sochi, Anapa and other large cities of Kubanj region.

The number of access points in the Rostov region increases steadily every month. In the nearest future the Rostov branch plans to provide wireless access to the Internet in higher educational institutions and business centers of Rostov -on-Don.

Wireless Internet access service is provided to users by using of a universal payment instrument – Card Number One, or on a contractual basis. Hot-spots are equipped with D-Link and Cisco equipment.
Southern Telecommunications Company was the first in the south of Russia to offer wireless Internet access service on the basis of Wi-Fi technology. The first hot-spot was organized by specialists of the Krasnodar branch in the recreation center "Orbita", Olginka, in July 2004.
