OREANDA-NEWS. April 10, 2008. In January-March, 2008, Commercial Port of Vladivostok OJSC handled 1.5 million tonnes of cargo (+66%, year-on-year). In the reported period transshipment of containers amounted to 58,141 TEU (+54%, year-on-year), imported automobiles and specialized equipment – 59,976 units (+14%).

In the first quarter, the port handled 849,100 tonnes of export cargo (+97%) including 581,200 tonnes of metal and hardware (up 3-fold), 75,900 tonnes of scrap metal (+33%) and 23,380 TEU of containers (+67 %).

Transshipment of import cargo grew by 26%, year-on-year, to 381,900 tonnes. Containers make the core of import transshipment – 18,889 TEU (+46%).

In the reported period, transshipment of coastal trade cargo totaled 272,400 tonnes (+57%, year-on-year) including 15,872 TEU of containerized cargo (+48%, year-on-year), 113,500 tonnes of oil products (up 2-fold).

In January-March, the port of Vladivostok handled 835 vessels and 21,245 wagons.

Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok is located on the North-West shore of an ice-free Bay of Zolotoi Rog. It was founded in 1897. The port specializes in handling of dry and liquid bulk cargo, timber and general cargo including containers. The port’s 16 berths are 4200 meters long. Two of the berths are cargo-and-passenger ones. All the berths except for berth No 16 are multi-purpose berths. Berth No 16 specializes in handling of large-capacity containers. The port also has two refrigerator warehouses with a capacity of 5,000 m3 each.
Oil terminal provides enough capacity for the storage of 25,500 tons oil products. Alongside the berth a water depth allows the berthing of up to 20,000dwt tankers with draft of up to 10 m. Here there is bunkering of ships, as well as handling of export oil products.
