Participants discussed recent trends on international capital markets, and the impact the global credit crunch has had on Russia. Also under consideration was the emergence of Moscow as a global financial center.

AntantaPioglobal CEO Eugene Kogan delivered a presentation at the conference on “The Global Credit Crisis: Three Scenarios. The Russian Perspective.” In his speech, he noted that “in all likelihood, given a “controlled” recession in the US, the median development scenario for the global crisis will not be critical for the world economy, including Russia.”

Attending the conference were Alexander Potemkin, Chairman of the MICEX’s Board of Directors, and Chris Gibson-Smith, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the London Stock Exchange. Papers were also presented, among others, by Vladimir Milovidov (FSS), Alexei Ulyukaev, (CBR), Alexei Savatyugin (Russian Finance Ministry), Sergei Markov (deputy of the State Duma), and Mark Yandel (Global Financial Centers Index).
