OREANDA-NEWS. April 15, 2008. Russian Railways is to hold the first competitions to sell both movable and immovable property from 22 maintenance and repair depots in late May, with further auctions due in June. A formal announcement and the date, place and time of the tender will be issued shortly, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

The sales are designed to increase the competition on maintaining and repairing freight rolling stock.

The Company expects to raise at least 2,6 billion roubles from the sales.  

The winners of competitions will be required to fulfill a number of conditions, in particular, to maintain the existing designation of the property acquired and organizing maintenance and repair facilities and providing employment for the employees at the depots.

The depots up for sale repaired 18,540 wagons belong to Russian Railways and 20,841 private wagons in 2007.
