On 18 April 2008 was announced, that International Central-Asian Agriculture and Food Industry Conference (AGRICA 2008) will be held in Almaty on 07.10.2008 — 10.10.2008 The Goal of the conference AGRICA 2008 — is to discuss pressing issues and problems in agriculture and food industry in Central Asia, organise an open discussion to identify effective ways to overcome problems which hinder the agro-industrial complex development in the country, exchange experiences, and establish business contacts between stakeholders at the inter-governmental level and business circles.

The conference participants will discuss the current state and development outlooks of the agro-industrial sector in Central Asia, namely, concepts of scientific provision of Kazakhstan’s agro-industrial complex, development of agriculture and food industry in neighbouring countries, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, the scientific and technical policy concepts, environmental safety and cattle breeding development in Kazakhstan. A separate session will be about the agricultural machine-building concept in the Eurasian Economic Space. It highlights the issues of machine-building in agriculture, rural electrification strategies, and inter-sectoral integration of food areas in Eurasia.
