OREANDA-NEWS. On April 17, 2008 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has finally endorsed the procedure for holding auctions to sell and rent out non-farming land in 2008, reported the Official website www.kmu.gov.ua.

The Cabinet also approved the draft of amendments to Article 137 of the Land Code to say that the land auction procedure should be endorsed by a government resolution rather than by law.

The government says that its Thursday resolution takes into account the remarks set forth by the President's Secretariat.

The bill approved will now be sent for parliament's consideration in keeping with Article 137 of the Land Code.

As reported, on April 7, President Viktor Yushchenko suspended the government's February resolution on the land auction procedure. The President attributed his move to the Land Code provision saying that land sales, including though auction, must be regulated by law.
