OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2008. Since the Bagaja gas processing complex was put into operation it has processed 300 million cubic meters of natural gas. Every day it processes 2.2 million cubic meters of ‘blue fuel’. At present the specialists of the Termodesign Engineering LTD Company (Canada) are performing adjustment, test and evaluation works at the production sectors so that the complex will reach the planned production level of three million cubic meters a day within the next few months.

The complex produces 20-22 tons of liquefied gas and 45-50 tons of hydrocarbon condensate every day. Domestic fuel is transported to the gas processing plant in Seydi, from which it is supplied to consumers abroad for the most part. Gas condensate is supplied via the 37-km pipeline to the Seydi oil refinery, which processes it into light oil products and then exports. Ecologically clean tank gas is supplied via the 43-km high pressure gas pipeline to the gas-supply system of the Lebap Velayat.

To date, four wells producing ‘blue fuel’ at the depth of over 3,000 meters are in operation. As the complex increases the capacities more gas-bearing wells will be connected to a gathering station. Industrial development of seven high-flow-rate wells has been completed.

According to specialists, the Bagaja gas-condensate field is one of the largest in the country. Its depths hide abundant hydrocarbon resources that will enable to increase the capacity of the gas processing plant and to meet the requirements in raw materials for a long period of time. Therefore, local specialists are planning to build the second turn of the gas processing plant applying advanced technologies and equipment.

Liquefied gas is a main article of Turkmen export and the Lebap Velayat is the large gas processing centre of the country. The Nayip gas processing complex in the Karakum Desert started to work about ten years ago. In the period it produced over 600,000 tons of domestic fuel that meets the international standards. The plant exports a major part of its products including high-quality tank gas. Hundreds of thousands of tons of hydrocarbon condensate produced at the Nayip complex made large economic profit for the Turkmen state in the past years.

Steadily increasing hydrocarbon production and processing as well as developing and modernizing the industrial infrastructure of the national fuel and energy sector through applying advanced highly profitable technologies are the priority trends of the long-term programme aimed at implementing the profound potential of the oil and gas industry with the profound potential, which allowed Turkmenistan to rank among the world’s energy producers. As an integral part of the Turkmen leader’s economic development strategy aimed at improving the welfare and life quality of the Turkmen people the programme will offer a powerful incentive to an upsurge in economic activity and intense development of rural areas.
