OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2008. Belarus is interested in displaying advanced information technologies, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said when he met with Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union Hamadoun Toure on April 21.

“Sophisticated technologies are the face of any country. Which is why we are interested in your seeing this level while in Belarus,” said the head of state. Alexander Lukashenko underscored, efforts of the International Telecommunication Union and Belarusian companies, which work in this industry, are an important component of the society and the state as information technologies contribute a lot to ensuring the information security of state institutions. “We are ready to provide all the information you are interested in,” said the head of state.

In turn, Hamadoun Toure remarked, the vision of the global development of information technologies the President of Belarus outlined at the World Summit on the Information Society in Geneva in 2003 was up-to-date and topical. “Now we are moving towards summing up achievements of the humankind development goals, including IT goals. Which is why assessing the achievements is very important,” added the Secretary General.
