OREANDA-NEWS. April 21, 2008. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) initiated a case against "Gazprom" OJSC for breaching Part 1 Article 10 of the Federal Law "On Protection of Competition", reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

The case was initiated upon a petition of "Trans Nafta" CJSC.

FAS Russia established that "Trans Nafta" CJSC entered into a gas transportation agreement with "GazEnergoComplex" OJSC to supply gas to consumers in the Republic of Tatarstan - "Generating Company" OJSC - and sent an application to "Gazprom" OJSC for a short-term access to the gas transportation systems of "Gazprom" OJSC (GTS "Gazprom" OJSC).

"Gazprom" OJSC refused to grant "Trans Nafta" CJSC an access to GTS "Gazprom" OJSC for gas transportation, referring to inconsistency between fuel management at the Naverezhnie Chelny Power-and-Heating Plant (a branch of "Generating Company" OJSC) and the actual gas consumption, which, according to "Gazprom" OJSC, could result in failure to take the agreed minimal quantity of gas by the power-and-heating plant and gas accumulation in the system.

FAS Russia considers that "Gazprom" OJSC violated the antimonopoly legislation.

The case will be heard on 29th April 2008.
