OREANDA-NEWS. On 25 April 2008 was announced, that the number of human settlements of Irkutsk region, which are included into the coverage are of GSM network “Baikalwestcom” Company, 100% affiliated company of “Sibirtelecom” OJSC, exceeded 450. It is the result of works connected with the network extension in the first quarter of 2008.

From the beginning of 2008, the following settlements were included into the coverage area: Zarb and Tangui villages of Bratsk region; Berezkina, Tagna, Moiseevka villages, Blagodatny and Verhny areas of Zalarinsky region; Tsentralny Hazan settlement and Traktovy area of Ziminsky region; Novoshelekhova, Malinovka villages, Nikolayevka and Korolenko villages, Shevchenko village, settlements of Nevelskaya and Toporok railway stations, Kvitok industrial community of Taishetsky region; Azei, Algatui, Mugun, Sheragul villages, settlement of Shuba railway station of Tulunsky region.

All large cities of the region and big part of adjacent territories have been already included into the coverage area of the operator. At this date, the priority task is to cover the main highways of the region with the network and to move further into “the backwoods”, in order to provide subscribers with permanent telecommunication availability regardless of their location within Irkutsk region.

The client base of “Baikalwestcom” CJSC is also increasing. In the nearest future it will exceed 1,800,000 subscribers.

In 2007 “Baikalwestcom” network became available in Buguldeika, Bolshie Koty, Mangutai, on Irkutsk-Maloe More and Bratsk-Tulun highways, as well as in other villages and settlements of the region and Kirinsk city.
