OREANDA-NEWS. April 28, 2008. S7 Airlines, Russia’s largest air carrier by number of transported passengers on domestic routes, has announced the results of its activities for March and the first quarter of 2008, reported the press-centre of S7 Airlines.

S7 Airlines transported 1,252,000 aviation passengers during the first three months of 2008, which is 38% more than in the first quarter of last year.

More than 440,000 passengers used the services of S7 Airlines in March 2008. This exceeds the indicator for March 2007 by 39%.

The volume of transported cargo and mail in March increased by 50% to 3,626 metric tons. A total of 9,265 metric tons of cargo and mail was transported during the first quarter of 2008.

The increase in the indicators is associated with the opening of the following new regular flights in the second half of 2007: Moscow-St. Petersburg, Moscow-Ufa, Moscow-Khabarovsk, Moscow-Chisinau (Moldova), Moscow-Nadym and others, as well as with the increase in the number of flights on the routes: Moscow-Krasnodar, Moscow-Novosibirsk, Moscow-Samara, Omsk-Moscow, Moscow-Kazan and others. An increase in transport on the tourism routes Moscow-Hurghada (Egypt), Moscow-Rimini (Italy) was also observed in the first quarter of 2008.

S7 Airlines completed 31% more flights during the January-March 2008 period than during the same period of last year.
