OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 May 2008 was announced, that the delegation of Zarubezhneft’s experts headed by Nikolay Brunich, General Director, has recently made a business trip to Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Area-Yugra (KMAA-Yugra). In Khanty-Mansiysk a meeting with A.V. Philipenko, the Governor of the Area and V.I. Karasev, Deputy Governor for subsoil areas use issues and fuel-and-energy complex was held.

In the course of discussions the participants of the meeting have exchanged the opinions on a number of issues related to hydrocarbons production in the country and in the region. In particular, the possibilities of cardinal increase of the heavy oil production level was discussed on the basis of innovation development and scaled introduction of the modern EOR methods into operating and non-distributed fields of the Area.

At present non-operating well stock in KMAA-Yugra is highly considerable, therefore the introduction of the new technologies for oil recovery enhancement is advantageous both for subsoil users and for the budget of the Area.

Referring to the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation №137 dated February 3, 2004 in which Zarubezhneft was instructed to develop modern EOR methods, Nikolay Brunich made an offer to the officials of the Area on applying the said technologies at KMAA-Yugra territory. After discussing possible directions of activities in this sphere, the parties have come to conclusion that the prospects are of mutual interest to them. Thus, Zarubezhneft will get a possibility to accumulate the required experience in the area of oil recovery enhancement with its use ultimately in the third countries. New projects will essentially be demonstrative grounds of EOR methods trial with their subsequent introduction into industrial practice.

A.V. Philipenko expressed its willingness to cooperate with Zarubezhneft and to render comprehensive assistance to the future projects. In the course of the meeting the immediate prospects of interaction have been determined, top-priority issues to be worked out have been outlined.
