OREANDA-NEWS. On 04 May 2008 was announced, that the airline Transaero operates the first flight on the route Saint-Petersburg – Tokyo – Saint-Petersburg. The flights will be operated twice a week every Tuesday and Thursday by the aircraft Boeing 767 (there are 204 seats in economy class and 36 seats in business class). In the near future Pulkovo Airport is planning to increase the number of flights in the given direction.

The successful development of business and cultural connections between two cities has recently contributed to the opening of direct flights from Saint-Petersburg to Tokyo. The representative delegation headed by the governor Valentina Matvienko is departing by the first flight from Saint-Petersburg to the capital of Tokyo. The delegation is taking part in the conference about business development strategy between Saint-Petersburg and Japan.

The airline Transaero was established in November of 1991 and it is the first private carrier in Russia. From the moment of its establishment the airline carried more than 12 mln. passengers. The aircraft fleet consists of modern and comfortable aircrafts of Russian and foreign production.
