OREANDA-NEWS. On 06 May 2008 was announced, that according to the projection of social and economic development of Moscow till 2012, a number of hotels in the Russian capital is to be increased by more than 2.5 times by 2012.

More than 200 hotels were operating in Moscow in early 2008.

“The work within the general scheme of placing hotels will proceed. 360 hotels are on various stages of the realization of the investment project. A number of hotels will come to 554 ones designed for 186,200 guests by 2012,” the document, considered at a session of City Hall of Moscow on May 6, said.

The work on complex development of the area called Golden Ring of Moscow, development of the complex of the pedestrian tourist route Neskuchny Garden – Moscow City, creation of a tourist and recreation zone in northeast Moscow is planned for the purpose of creation a full-fledged tourism sector with well-developed infrastructure and preservation of historical and cultural heritage of Moscow.

According to the document, a large-scale advertising campaign for presenting Moscow as an international tourist centre at the biggest international exhibitions and fairs in aid of developing the tourism in the Russian capital.
