OREANDA-NEWS. On 08 May 2008 was announced, that on May 9, 2008, Moscow’s Domodedovo International Airport will hold a series of events dedicated to the 63rd anniversary of the Great Victory.

Scenes from the life of soldiers will be staged at the airport terminal complex, the centre of the festivities. All day long, travelers and airport guests will be overlooked by a small detachment of soldiers wearing military uniforms from the times of the Great Patriotic War. Everyone will be able to take pictures of an improvised soldier halt. Passengers and airport guests will enjoy the holiday atmosphere, feel the spirit of the war time, and have a taste of what the war heroes felt. They will be greatly assisted in doing so by a number of Victory Day posters displaying newspaper pages dated May 10, 1945 which will be put up on the walls of the terminal complex. An archive newspaper issue which came out on the day following the announcement of the victory – a truly unique rarity preserved to this day – has been provided by a World War II veteran who has kindly agreed to contributing his ideas for festive decoration of the airport terminal.

You can feel the sense of holiday in the airport today. The song “Victory Day”, which became a sort of national anthem, is broadcast in Domodedovo Passenger Terminal together with greetings and words of appreciate and gratitude to veterans. Also all veterans and other war participants may receive free public transport tickets, which can be claimed at the airport’s information desk.

All employees of the Domodedovo airport will congratulate the veterans and celebrate the Great Victory of the Soviet people over fascist aggressors on this festive day, which symbolises courage, heroism, and selflessness of our compatriots.
